Haven Taxi Insurance

Haven Taxi Insurance is one of the few motor insurance firms to have their main office in Gibraltar. They began operations back in 2002 by providing both home and vehicle insurance policies. Their policies are in compliance with both UK and EU standards called Solvency II. They are a privately owned insurance company that can provide policies for those drivers that are having difficulty finding a policy that fits their needs and situation.

What types of policies does Haven offer?

This firm has 7 different categories of policies they issue to their clients, including;

1. Private Cars

Private cars for social, pleasure and domestic uses along with those that must have a telemetric device or short term and temporary policies. The levels of cover include Comprehensive, Third Party Fire and Theft along with Third Party Only.

2. Commercial vehicles

Commercial vehicle policies to meet a wide variety of needs for businesses in the UK.

3. Fleet polices

Fleet policies are designed to meet the special needs of a taxi business, as well as those of a courier business and credit car hire service.

3. Motor trade

Motor Trade road risk cover is made for the professionals in the vehicle trader business.

4. Taxis

Taxi policies include both Haven PCO car insurance for private hire types and public taxis. Cover can be billed annually or as a temporary policy.

5. Learner Driver

Learner Driver policies are issued on a short term basis to help a person obtain a driving licence.

6. Home Insurance

Household cover for both the occupied and unoccupied buildings. These can be for the long or short term.

Haven Instructions if you are Involved in an Accident

This generic information that should be followed if you are involved in any road accident. Haven specifically requests that you report any accident, however small, within 24 hours of it occurring by calling: 0345 092 0700 or texting “CLAIM” to 83118.

1. Get every one into a safe position, away from any traffic, before you start exchanging details.
2. Never admit liability for causing the accident
3. Take note of the names, addresses and phone numbers of everyone involved in the accident.
4. If safe to do so, take pictures of the vehicles, the registration numbers of the vehicles, damage caused as a result of the accident and any passengers.
5. If safe to do so also try to take pictures of the accident scene and anything else you feel may assist us in the handling of a claim.
6. Take note of the names, contact details and addresses of any witnesses present.
7. Notify the police at the scene of the accident if any party is injured.

Does Haven insurance cover you for driving outside the UK?

Provided that your car is being used for social, domestic, and pleasure purposes, Haven will provide you with the minimum level of cover required by law in any country that is a member of the European Union. Current members are :

How do I make a claim on my Haven Taxi insurance policy?

Similar to making a car insurance claim, it is vital to report a taxi insurance claim as soon as possible. With Haven, it must be reported within 24 hours of the incident. Claims can be reported over the phone or online and the claims departments is open 24/87 265 days per year. The process will be similar as described below. It is important to report any incident even if you do not intend to make a claim, as in some cases the other party may later claim for costs. Example, they claim for replacement car hire or later claim they have been injured ( it does happen). Failure to report prevent excessive claims of this nature.

Report the claim as soon as possible, at least within 24 hours.
Call the claim’s hotline, 0173 2747100.
If unable to phone, they will also accept text message and call you back. Simply text “CLAIM” to 83118.
Have all the information ready, including date, time, details of any other vehicles, the insurance policy number of the other party, police report (if applicable), and be ready to share with the claims department.
If your policy schedule includes provision of a replacement taxi, Haven will put you in contact with a trusted provider. If the accident was not your fault, check with HAVEN if the other party has valid insurance that will cover any claim made for replacement taxi when your vehicle is being repaired.
Haven will evaluate and process your claim. They will take steps to safeguard against excessive claims on your policy and inform you of any liabilities based on your policy schedule (e.g., the excess amount).
